Early childhood development
Where a childhood begins well.
Early Childhood care and Education (ECCE) covers vital development and learning phase from 2–5 years. A flagship initiative of KSCCW, inspired by UNICEF's Early Childhood Development Model, the Model Crèche Programme gives children a safe, nurturing start while their parents work.
KSCCW previously conducted 150 crèches across 18 districts (2006–2016) under the Rajiv Gandhi National Crèche Scheme. Today it serves nearly 100 children through three model crèches — two in Jayamahal and one in R.T. Nagar, Bengaluru.
A safe, nurturing environment
Each crèche gives young children a caring, structured day built around:
- Play-based early learning
- Nutritious meals and healthcare
- Early stimulation and school readiness
- Parent counselling on child development, nutrition, hygiene and positive parenting
Frontline staff are trained to deliver quality early childhood education and support children's holistic development.
Why KSCCW crèches?
- Opportunities for English-medium education through sponsorship programmes.
- A strong focus on health, nutrition and early learning, reducing the caregiving burden on working parents.
- Inclusive support for children with disabilities, including referrals and financial assistance.
- Reduces school dropouts and ensures readiness for formal schooling.
- Empowering mothers through support and engagement.
