Who we are?
Lady Lokasundari Raman, wife of the Nobel Laureate Sir C.V Raman was the Founder President of KSCCW, she had a great love for children. In 1955, she set up a library for children in her home. Children who came to read at the library roamed around freely in the vast grounds adjoining the house and enjoyed themselves. This little library grew into the state level organisation it is today, the Karnataka State Council for Child Welfare.
Though constituted in May 1955, it was registered as an autonomous, non-profit organisation in 1961 under the Karnataka State Societies Registration Act, to provide services for the welfare and development of children and their families. KSCCW has always been one of the most proactive State Child Welfare Councils in India pioneering in innovative programs for the less privileged. Although the organisation is childcentric, children grow, therefore KSCCW has a number of programs that accompany children in their journey through adulthood with a supportive environment, until they become Self Reliant and Responsible Adults. We work for children welfare, who are daily exploited and living in the condition deprived of healthy environment, proper eduction, food, cloth and medical care.
